3rd July 2011: I had been following the world travels of Yanidel (http://www.yanidel.net/) and his street photography blog. So I thought I could so something similar but without the world travel. After all, photography is really all about light (and shadow) and there was plenty of both on the sunny streets of Brisbane.
I started brisstreet with this photo just over seven years ago this week using a newly acquired Sigma DP2 (original). Not a great shot and not all that sunny a day but the journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step, as it is said.
Almost 1,400 posts and 7 years later I am still shooting the same streets and scenes with (almost) the same enthusiasm. Here’s a photo of the steps above on Turbot Street taken a couple of months ago, this time with a Sigma DP2 Merrill (there’s something about these little Sigmas that I love):
What keeps me going is that I love photography. Photography for photography’s sake, I guess. I know I am not unusual or special in that regard but these are my photos. I’m not trying to say anything in particular except, look at this, I like it, hope you do too.
So thank you for taking the time to read these words and thank you for looking at my photos. I’ll be here, posting from the streets of Brisbane and wherever else I might find myself from time to time.
Take care and more photos.
